Getting better

I'm starting to pull out of the slump I've been in for a couple of weeks. I haven't felt that depressed in a long time. Ugh. But I did buy that study guide and started reading that with the Book of Mormon. I've also been reading from my manual and doing my personal progress. I'm ready to have my next one signed off next week. I haven't done much with the Preach My Gospel this week but I'm getting back on track now. I spent a lot of time this week trying to serve others and I think that's what's helped me out of the pit I was in. This week I will continue to use my study guide, PMG (Preach my gospel) and start on my next step for Personal Progress.

In Institute this week we learned something amazing. Do you know why the rod of iron was made of iron and not wood? Obviously, iron is stronger than wood but why not copper? or some other strong, hard metal? It’s because iron conducts electricity. Electricity can pass all the way through the rod. Just like electricity, the Spirit flows through the Book of Mormon (rod of iron) to us. It’s symbolic. Also iron is heavily present in our blood streams. It’s in the food we eat and if you don’t have enough iron, then you become anemic and fatigued and your body will wear down. Well, if we cling to the iron rod but think of it as the life blood, or atoning blood of Jesus Christ then we realize that when we aren’t clinging, then we will become anemic and fatigued and wear down. We NEED Him. Also the scriptures say that all things denote there is a God. Did you know that the core of the earth is a big ball of iron? It’s surrounded my hot, molten lava made of iron. Iron is EVERYWHERE in this earth, denoting, symbolically that Christ is EVERYWHERE.

I just loved that lesson!

  1. I never thought of the fact that the Iron Rod was made of iron. That is really interesting!
