New things to ponder...

Well I have continued to read from both of the books I wanted to. Today I studied my scriptures with a notebook. I wasn't sure where to read from so I just read where I already was. The book of Mormon in The Book of Mormon. The second verse in the first chapter talks about Ammaron who is talking to Mormon - who happens to be 11 years old at the time.
"Ammaron said unto me: I perceive that thou art a sober child, and art quick to observe".
I was really thinking about that and what it means to be sober. In a talk by James J. Hamula from a 2008 conference talk titled, Winning the War against Evil, Elder Hamula said that
"being sober means being earnest and serious in assessing your circumstances and careful and circumspect in weighing the consequences of your actions. Soberness, therefore yields good judgment, as well as measured conduct."
Mormon was also quick to observe. I take that to mean that he knew what was happening around him. He watched others and observed how they lived and modeled his own behavior after that which was good.
Anyway, this is what has really stuck out in my mind today and I will ponder this more this week.
My goals this week are to continue to study the scriptures in an effective way. I am really in need of the Lord's help in my life, especially now, and this is how I know He will give me answers to my pleadings.
