Need the Motivation

When the storm came, I lost my motivation. I know it is a lame excuse, but it is true. I succeeded in praying all but last night, and I read The Book of Mormon Monday and Tuesday. I listened to at least one talk from the last conference Monday and Tuesday. Some how not having to get kids to school and seminary Wednesday and Thursday changed things for me. I even slept in on Thursday (which felt really good), had nothing to do but pick up Noel from her friend's house where she was stuck through the storm. I had all the time and energy I could ask for, but I got nothing done. Friday just felt weird. I can't explain it. Getting out and going doing normal things after two days of not being normal especially when it was a Friday just felt different for some reason. I am going to work on the same goals this week with one addition; I am going to make a point to listen to the Holy Ghost and follow the promptings. Chad and I both had basically the same experience of not listening to the promptings of the Holy Ghost this last week. On Wednesday, we got up and got ready for work and felt like we should stay home. We looked out the window and saw that it was raining and dismissed these feelings. For me, I had a feeling a few hours later that I should leave work or the drive home would be difficult. I once again dismissed this because I was worried that I would get in trouble for leaving early. When it was announced that the snow and wind were getting bad and suggested that we should go home, I left work. I was the first one gone. By the time I got home, I regretted not following the promptings I was giving. Chad was not able to get home. Luckily, he was able to make it to his brother's house and had a place to stay for the night. If we had listened early that morning, we would have been save a scary drive, and Chad would have been home.
Just to put it all in one place, I am going to restate my goals for the week.
I will:
  • read The Book of Mormon for 10 minutes each morning
  • pray each night
  • listen to at least one conference talk per day  that I work
  • follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost

  1. It's really hard when you get off schedule. I'm so glad you recognized that it was a prompting. I'm glad the consequences were small.
