Some...

Well this week I have had D&C 25:10 on my mind. The Lord is talking to Emma Smith. He says, "And verily I say unto thee that thou shalt lay aside the things of this world, and seek for the things of a better".
I think of all the time I waste and how I want to seek to do my Father in Heaven's will. It's so hard to overcome the fleshly desires though. But I know that I can try. And I also know that He will consecrate my efforts. I also remember that at conference I had all 6 of my questions answered and one of them was that I needed to repent. Repentance is what allows the Lord to change me. I keep trying to change me on my own but I can only white knuckle it for so long. I need HIM to change me.

I did not read from the Come Follow Me this week. The week escaped me but I did get the change to attend Time Out For Women. I usually go every year...it's a tradition with my mom and Sarah. I have to say, that this was the best one by far! I feel like a came away a changed person. The theme was Here. As in Hear Him. It was so inspiring and uplifting and I came away with very practical ideas to make some changes.

So this week I will:

  • Make sure I find quiet time every day. No distractions, noise, TV, etc. Just time to think and talk to my Heavenly Father. Not necessarily official prayers but just commune time.
  • I will attend the temple this week as well.
  • I will study Come Follow Me.
  • I will study at least one verse from the Book of Mormon every day. One verse that I can spend time translating. S. Michael Wilcox (LDS author and speaker) said that we all have to put the Lord's words into our own so that we can learn what He wants us to learn. So I will make sure that I spend time on at least one verse really trying to get more depth out of it.
  • Continue studying from D&C

  1. I haven't attended Time Out for Women since I was pregnant with Noel. It sounds like this would be a great year to go back.
