It Helps

While my work life is unsure (I'm waiting to be officially transferred back to my previous boss), listening to conference talks in the morning has helped keep me grounded. It does not take all of the stress work away, but it does make it tolerable some days. I have gotten to the point that I look forward to listening to the talks in the morning. There are still some that I have a hard time paying attention to, but there is at least one per week that is so applicable to me that this time that I highlight certain parts of them, and there have been a few that hit me so hard that I have listened to them more than once. This week, that was Faith to Act and Become by Elder Ciro Schmeil of the Seventy. I loved it so much that I highlighted some of it, listened to it twice, and wrote a blog entry about it in my personal blog. I can't wait to find out what I will learn next.

Our "Come, Follow Me" lessons are going pretty good. Psalms is not always easy to understand. Honestly, I can't wait until we are done with the Old Testament. The language is just hard for me. I am thankful for the "Don't Miss This" podcast. It helps a lot. I have been watching it every Monday.

Tonight, I went with Noel to Seminary Kick-off. In one of the talks, the kids were challenged to pray every morning and night, read scriptures every day, and something else that I don't remember. I feel like my next step right now is to have personal prayers in the morning and at night. I have really become to laxed in this area. I am going to add that to my goals.

My goals for this week are:
  • listen to a conference talk at the beginning of each work day
  • do "Come, Follow Me" as a family before bed
  • pray morning and night

  1. How great that you are taking on the challenges given to the youth...and everyone really, but it would be cool if you and Noel were working on the same goals.
